Yesterday afternoon in New York, June 5, 2015, Oleoestepa, main producer and marketer of high quality extra-virgin olive oils, won three International Olive Oil Committee (IOC) awards during the Mario Solinas Awards Ceremony.
At the Summer Fancy Food Show, a professional trade fair, Oleoestepa was also present with its own place.
Oleoestepa is recognized by both its quality and its position as a leader in the industry since it is the company with the most liters of extra-virgin olive oil awarded this year (105,000 liters), in comparison to the usual 5,000 liters (the minimum required by the IOC is 2,000 liters).
In total, 111 oils, 64 of which came from Spain, 34 from Portugal, 5 from Tunisia, 4 from Greece, 2 from Morocco, 1 from Israel and another from Italy were presented at the competition. Among them, Oleoestepa picked up 2 third prizes, one of them in the intense green category and another in the light green. In addition, it was a finalist in the mature extra-virgin oil category.
Kyle Davis, who is responsible for the export of Oleoestepa in the Americas, had the honor of accepting these awards. He emphasized that “this award is a recognition of our work, the fundamental basis of which is the production of the highest quality extra-virgin olive oil. Besides, the fact that our oil is distinguished at the international level further facilitates its consolidation in markets such as the US market as well as the expansion and export to new countries.”
Through the Mario Solinas Prize, the IOC wants to encourage individual producers, producer associations and packaging businesses in producer countries to sell extra-virgin olive oils with harmonious organoleptic characteristics: special retro-olfactory, olfactory and taste sensations.
This is not the only award won by the Sevillian cooperative society during the 2014-2015 campaign. It also managed to be honored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment of the Netherlands with the distinction for the best extra-virgin olive oil in the category of fruity bitter green as well as at the international fair of olive oil Expoliva 2015 and Biofach in Nuremberg, Germany, among others.
